These wooden puppets hand-carved by very talented Bohemian artisans were permitted to use the Czech language during performances in public. According to language experts, it was because of these marionettes that the Czech language managed to survive those tough times and is still actively used to this day.

Scarce Use Of Vowels

For example, there are many words in the Czech dictionary that don’t have vowels. It can be very strange for a native English speaker to see these words, much less try to pronounce them. But of course, this is perfectly normal for native Czech speakers.

Unique Letter

Of all the languages in the world, Czech is one of the very few languages that use the letter ř. This letter is used, also quite rare, in some Norwegian dialects, as well as in the Upper Sorbian language used by some traditional Germans.

Strange Capitalization Rules

Also, the capitalization rules in the Czech language are complicated, to say the least. Half of the local population admits to not knowing how to do it properly.
